Property in Britain is very different to that found in Spain and certainly this is true of Mediterranean Spain!
BEAUTIFUL DETACHED COUNTRY HOUSE ENGLAND
Certainly, most houses in Spain have a garden. This is true even of houses in a big city like London. There the terraced houses (adosados) always have a small front garden and then, normally, a very long back garden the same width as the house itself.
Gardens are, without doubt, important to the British and you can see from the photographs below that all the houses shown have gardens – although, obviously, you cannot see the large gardens that they have at the back of the houses.
Many houses in the countryside are very beautiful and big. They are luxurious and will cost around one million pounds (about 1.2 million Euros) or much more in a county like Surrey.
'SEMI' - OR SEMI DETACHED HOUSE IN ENGLAND
Of course, not everyone can afford huge houses! So, many people live in ‘semis’ or semi detached houses. These are properties divided into two and that are mirror images of each other. One family lives in one side and the other family on the other side!
Bungalows are also common and these are detached houses that have only one floor. Interestingly, the word ‘bungalow’ came into the English language from India – when Britain had its Empire there!
